Losses caused by disease represent a major obstacle to the profitability of many breeders. Disease results in animal death, failure or decreased efficiency in reproduction, and decreases in growth and productivity.
Pedigree Cattle have developed potential Questions and Answers breeders may have on IBR. IBR and other diseases have become a problem in the selection of bulls for AI stations. If a breeder wishes to enter a bull into Tully or an AI station, the animal has to be entirely free from IBR. It is widely agreed that prevention rather than treatment is the most economical approach to keeping disease losses low.
